We have taken some photos of the JHM Kapalua Airport interior and exterior. JHM is not a very large airport, but it is a convenient location for the West Maui area. If you have some photos you'd like to share please contact us via the Contact form. We'll seriously consider any pictures that will help travelers to West Maui enjoy and understand this West Side Airport.
Be sure to look at the map of West Maui. Seeing your location on Maui will help orient you to where the airport is. It will also give you an idea of where you are staying. In Hawaii we use the Hawaiian word "mauka" and makai". Mauka means inland or upland. Once you accept you are on an Island. Everything away from the ocean is mauka. Makai means toward or by the sea; seaward. At JHM Airport there is nothing developed above the airport at this time. So we would say there is nothing mauka of the airport developed.
The airport is small, but has almost all the amenities you'd expect. Ticket counters, TSA, baggage claim, food and rest rooms. Car rental companies are not at the actual airport property. The rental car companies use a shuttle to pickup and return travelers. Taxi are also available.
This airport has excellent views of the ocean with the Island of Lanai in the background on the parking lot makai side of the terminal building and the West Maui mountains on the runway mauka side of the terminal building.
